Up until year 9 I was a thin, even skinny kid. I had been pretty confident until then and was enjoying sports like basketball and hanging out with friends. During year 9 a cloud came over my life and everything seemed to become more difficult. I was gradually becoming more and more depressed. I stopped my sports, stopped socialising and was placed on anti depressants and later had them swapped to anti anxiety medication. I managed to hold things together academically but socially and emotionally I was a mess and food became a comfort. By the end of year 12 my weight had snowballed into triple digits and I was miserable. My mum during this time was changing her lifestyle and food habits and had started following the MP lifestyle with great results. Mum suggested that my brother and I start training and eating the ‘MP way’ which we both did. Mum and I did the nutrition course and I started weight training and joined in with I.C.E - which was a huge challenge!! Mum really helped by prepping food and keeping me on track and organised. By the end of my first 12 weeks I had totally changed the way I was eating and I could see my body becoming stronger. The kilos were falling off. Emotionally my moods improved and I no longer needed anti depressants. I knew I was onto a winning formula and a winning trainer and I didn’t want to stop!
My amazing trainer Elizabeth really knew how to get the best out of me. Even on the days where I wasn’t feeling as strong as I could be she worked her magic so I never left a session without making some sort of gains. Her motivation, encouragement and unfailing support pushed me through any low points and it was amazing to see how quickly I could recover from them. As my confidence grew I was even helping my mum stay on track if she was having a moment of weakness! My whole family was changing the way we were eating and with the support of the MP community we were all gaining strength and continuing to drop kilos’s.
I have found this lifestyle easy to maintain, I’ve lost my craving for sugar and junk and I’m comfortable that my habits now are ones I will have forever. I’m loving the weight training. I.C.E training I could take or leave but luckily I only need to do it once a week!
My transformation is due to the loyalty, belief, passion and dedication of my mum and my amazing trainer! What other PT offers to go shopping with you?? She’s now become my stylist as well!
With every kilo that has been shed, my confidence has grown. I can stand tall and proud and say that this transformation has been my greatest achievement, it has been life changing and life saving for me. I don’t recognise the person I was last year; I’ll never forget him as he’s a part of me but I never want to be that person again. I can look at my life ahead with a whole new purpose and a whole new meaning. Thank you mum and thank you Elizabeth!
